Diane Groomes

"Due to my work in law enforcement I saw a daily need for an organization like HER; one that provides critical resources to our young women who are in crisis and need a network of support to provide them to a path of success; verses entering the criminal justice system. HER provides hope to those women that are invisible and ignored by society; they realize that their lives due matter when touched by HER."

Diane Groomes currently is employed as the Director of Security and Public Safety, for the District Wharf- SW Waterfront. She recently retired after serving 27 years with the Metropolitan Police Department – Washington DC. Ten of those years were as the Assistant Chief of Patrol Services; whereas she led field operations for all of the patrol districts, school safety division, special liaison division and community outreach for the Department.

During Diane’s tenure with the Metropolitan Police Department; she built and maintained vast community relationships throughout the entire city and supported vast youth work. She built strong partnerships and collaborations with numerous DC Agencies and various community organizations to improve the lives of those that lived, worked and visited Washington DC.
