Sarah Levant has worked with DC youth and young adults since 2011; specifically, in Southeast and Northeast DC. With supervising, case management, and counseling experience, she has worked with youth experiencing homelessness, incarceration and those in foster care. Sarah is pursuing her Masters in Social Work, focusing on clinical therapy and trauma. She is interested in combining mind-body practices with traditional talk therapy and she is accomplishing this through her training to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (through the SE Trauma Institute) and a 300-hour yoga teacher training, specializing in Prana Vinyasa Flow. Sarah has earned certifications with National Community Health Partners (motivational interviewing), Mindful Schools (facilitating mindfulness) and Palouse Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. At HER, Sarah incorporates her love of therapeutic body work, social justice, and empowerment of others.
Sarah has successfully completed certification in the “Creating Cultures of Trauma Informed Care Model” of trauma-informed practice. This is certified by Community Connections of Washington, DC. Community Connections is a nationally recognized organization in the field of trauma informed care.
